A Judge Letting A Parking Ticket Slide Because The Lady Was 2 Seconds Early Restored My Faith In The Judicial System

Outside of some bird law from last season’s McPoyle v. Ponderosa trial, I don’t know much about the legal system. But as someone that knows a good amount about how heartless traffic cops can be with parking tickets, I’m fully prepared to be outraged that Judge Caprio was not appointed to the Supreme Court last week. I have never seen a more level-headed, better interpretation of the law in all my life. The greatest strength of the Constitution itself is that it can be tweaked based on circumstances. Same goes for the law. No need to hold some tired looking woman’s feet to the fire for being TWO SECONDS early to her spot. In fact, I think the car clock excuse checks out exactly 5 minutes. It’s like the opposite of Coughlin Time. You get 5 minutes of wiggle room either way because nobody’s car clock is exact. And if a cop tells you to check your phone’s time when you park, they are clearly trying to give you a ticket for looking at your phone while driving. I believe that’s called entrapment.

Also, as I was doing research for this blog, I learned that Judge Caprio is the star of Caught In Providence. Basically a cooler Judge Judy for New Englanders. Absolutely riveting stuff, with a lawyer I can only describe as one of the two guys from Providence that Leo fucks up beyond belief in The Departed.

God I love Judge Caprio. For the common man, by the common judge.
